D and I had a great time at Spencer Park in Rochester Hills today. It is a wonderful park with a small lake, beach area, playground, boat rentals, and a concession stand. We met some of my friends from library school (as well as some of their friends and kids). D enjoyed playing with all the kids and swimming in the lake. It was nice to see her happily making new friends. She even successfully got one little boy to play "What Time is it Mr. Fox" with her.

Beautiful Lake Orion
D and I laid low this morning, as D was not feeling well.....we missed meeting friends at the zoo, which upset us both. By the afternoon we were sick of being at the hotel and decided to get some fresh air in downtown Lake Orion. It is a very beautiful little town, with a nice street of shops similar to Market St. in Corning. We met a nice woman and her two children in a resale shop. She had curly hair cut just like mine, so of course I had to ask her where she got it cut! She game me her number and said to call and we could get the kids together. We also checked out the Children's Park where D made a few other friends and fed some ducks!
We are looking forward to meeting a friend at the park tomorrow!

Michigan has its perks---SHOPPING!
We took our tired sick selves to the mall by big daddy's work to meet him for lunch. My first experience with the Somerset Collection (http://www.somersetcollection.com/) was back in 2000 while we were visiting the area for a possible job offer. It is a huge mall filled with designer stores, with a few "normal" stores mixed in. It is always decorated beautiful at Christmas time, so I look forward to having D's pictures taken there with Santa.

Spray Park
We ventured out early this morning to find the Spray Park in Clarkston. We went during the special hour for kids under 6. It was very nice, not too busy during that time (got busier after the 11am hour). There was also a nice playground there and places to sit and eat. We will definitely go back again!

First day of exploration...
D and I ventured out to Auburn Hills and Lake Orion areas. We hit up the local Target for odds and ends to keep us busy, fed, and clean in our temporary home.
We decided after lunch we needed to scope out a local park before heading to the library for crafts. D had fun playing with another little girl while I chatted with the sitter. At the library D decorated two mermaids. She had a lot of fun coloring, dotting and most importantly gluing! The library is very nice and has lots of fun programs every week!
We ended our fun with a dip in the pool! Now we are just waiting on daddy so we can eat!
On the road....
We had a nice drive to Michigan on Sunday. The cat did great and so did D! It was nice to be reminded on how close we will be to so many fun places.
Our extended stay hotel is nice, we have a two bedroom unit. There is a nice playground, pool, workout room, and free breakfast and happy hour treats. We are close to lots of shopping and eateries.
Delaney and I will be spending the week finding our way around. We are living in a different area then before, so there is a lot to learn. We will be checking out the parks and the library!
